This project consisted of designing a poster for AIGA’s Get Out The Vote promotion. The main goal of this poster was to target younger individuals, like college students, to vote. The project must be non-partisan and it had to encourage the viewers to vote no matter their political views or leadership preferences. I used the typeface Myriad Pro in different fonts. I mostly focused on the use of typography, but I also wanted to include a simple image that would support my message or slogan. I went for “Make a note, Don’t forget to vote.” It is very simple, but true. Most of the time, the reason people do not vote is because they forget due to their busy lives. I created an interactive poster that would hopefully resolve that problem, by having detachable tabs (or notes) that students would take as memos once they were done viewing it. I also tried to make the actual note with the message seem realistic by giving it a 3D dimensional look with graphic shadows and highlights. I am hoping that this effect would capture people’s attention and make my poster more memorable. I used vibrant patriotic colors and stars to further emphasize America’s nationalism and encourage people to take part on the U.S. Presidential Election on November 8th 2016. Everyone’s vote matters.
